"Remuneration in Intensive Care Under Review"
Dear Colleagues,
Historically, hospital funding has been shaped by numerous laws and reforms, reflecting a shift from the “pure” fulfillment of the social mission of diagnosing and treating illnesses toward increasingly economic approaches.
At the same time, the number of hospitals and beds is declining, while case numbers are rising and the length of stay per case is decreasing.
There is also a requirement to at least break even, something that is not readily apparent to the treating physician from the complex billing system.
In this continuing education session, we will focus on the funding of intensive care services. In the first presentation, Prof. Dr. Wilke will provide an overview and highlight shortcomings in the billing system using sepsis and delirium as examples.
In the second presentation, Ms. Preisendörfer will discuss the clinical and economic analysis of a recently published study on the use of ECLS in cardiac surgery.
We warmly invite you to this continuing education session and look forward to a lively discussion with you.
Kind regards,
Your SAW Conference Management team
